Bio
Hi! I'm Dominique. I'm from South Carolina, USA and currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland. I did my PhD in Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh. There, I spent my time researching about poverty and its impacts on different groups of people in the United States. I'm currently working as a Research Data Specialist, where I work to show people how best to manage their research data. I have also worked on a lot of collaborative international projects, across Europe and Africa. Outside of my professional work, I love being creative. I love photography and makeup and cooking.Project ideas
Investigating the role of poverty in maternal health
In this project, we would explore the role poverty would have on maternal health. We can explore questions like do mothers living in poverty have higher rates of depression? This project could take the form of a research project. You can do desk research and read about the various ways living in poverty can impact mothers and children. Or you could interview mothers about their experiences living in poverty. This would offer a really in-depth look at how mothers navigate poverty. Doing a research project will give you first hand experience gaining skills really useful for college/university, like answering complex questions with data or interviews, offering useful suggestions for policymakers on how to tackle such issues.
