Bio
I'm a French-American citizen; I grew up in Paris, moved to San Francisco before receiving a degree in Architecture at McGill University in Montreal and I completed my M.Arch at MIT. Over the years I've participated in numerous architectural design projects, working on construction sites building public artwork, fabricating my own furniture and designing pavilions. I've worked closely with 9-12 year olds in the context of my master's thesis. We were interested mainly in the role and function of participatory design for the design of play spaces. This work required us, the designers, and them, the users, to work collaboratively and think outside of the box to come to new forms of play. You can see more of my work on my website: https://abeaudouin.com Cheers.Project ideas
Introduction to Design
An introduction to the fundamentals of design, to stimulate creativity, understanding design as a process of iteration, abstract thinking, as well as the tool to represent these ideas. If you're interested in learning these methods I'll guide you through the analysis of designer's work processes, the formulation of a concept, the design development process, and the technical tools needed to represent visual work.
Small Scale Fabrication Project
If you're a hands-on person like me, who wants to build something, anything, I'll happily help you execute the project in a rigorous manner. I can teach you software to plan and model your object, we can talk about ways to iterate and improve your design and finally the different materials and ways we can build your object. This might be a piece of furniture for yourself or a geometric sculpture or a functional object for the house. I also have a few design challenges to help trigger new ideas.
