Bio

I am a 4th year medical student at NYU pursuing a career in Ophthalmology. I am a dual MD/MPA applicant with interests not just in clinical medicine, but also health policy and health economics. I am especially interested in costs and quality of care. I studied International Relations and Spanish in my undergrad at the University of Michigan. I love learning new languages, trying new recipes and hanging out with my friends.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Pollution and Eye Disease

How does environmental pollution affect eye disease, especially myopia? In recent decades, there is an increasing prevalence of myopia, especially in pediatric populations. There are plenty of theories of why this is occurring, and many of these theories involve socio-environmental factors. Some pollutants have been associated with increasing rates of myopia amongst populations.
