Bio

I hold a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mathematics. In 2019, I co-organized the special session "Number Theoretic Methods in Hyperbolic Geometry" at the 2019 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore, MD. As a high school teacher, I have advised dozens of students on year-long research projects. My hobbies include running, paddleboarding, and watching movies. I am also a sucker for a good self improvement book or podcast. One of my most memorable experiences in college was studying abroad in London, UK for a semester.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Literature Review Paper

The goal of a literature review is to answer a couple specific research questions by summarizing what is currently known by experts on the topic. For example, what relationships exist between the roots of a polynomial and its coefficients? Is there structure among the roots if the coefficients are chosen at random? Through the process of investigating your question, you will learn how to read mathematical papers and where they can be found online. If you have access to a university library, you will certainly want to spend some time there as well. Upon completing this project, you will be in a great position to conduct undergraduate research alongside a university professor.

Teaching experience

I have been a high school math teacher for several years. I have mentored high school students working on a variety of research projects, some which were presented to the public at a local research symposium.
