Expertise
cultural comparisons, emotion regulation strategies, interpersonal emotions, empathic accuracy, and emotion ideals
Bio
I received my BA in Cognitive Science from Vassar College and shortly after graduating, I worked at MIT in the Early Childhood Cognition Lab (ECCL). There I examined young children’s interpersonal emotion regulation in response to another agent’s distress. Currently, I’m a PhD student in the Psychology department at the University of California, Berkeley. My work examines how cultural intersections impact emotion regulation, emotion beliefs, and empathy. When I have free time I indulge in YA novels, Webtoons, music, and new hobbies.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Measuring cross-cultural emotions
In this project, we will look into current and past techniques for conducting cross-cultural emotions research. We will compile a list of methods and scales and design a study using a subset of the measures we find.
Cultivating Happiness
In this project, we will look into evidence-based techniques for creating and savoring positive experiences. You will get to pick a couple of these techniques to practice (or have some friends practice) over a short period of time. You will then use self-report measures to determine the effects of the techniques.
