Bio
Hey, I'm Adi! I'm a fifth-year History PhD student at Yale researching race, citizenship, and diaspora in Asian American communities. My current research explores social justice organizing by Indian and South Asian American communities in the 1970s United States. I've mentored dozens of students on Polygence, and I love this platform and the students I work with. I strive to be a mentor for anyone who wants to find their passion and is willing to work to get there. I am looking forward to helping in any way I can. In my spare time, I produce a podcast, write and record music, and create multimedia historical projects to engage my community.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Community Oral Histories
Find five people in your community above the age of 60, each from different ethnic or national backgrounds. Ask them to conduct an oral interview - an hour long-conversation where you ask them about their life story, and record it on your iPhone or computer. Once you're finished, transcribe the interviews, and upload to a website along with the audio. Send the website to the oral interviewee families, and ask them to share with friends. When you're done, you'll have created a small community across generations. This is a great exercise to work on active listening skills.
