Bio
Hi! I'm Natalia Maldonado Vázquez, a Pharmacology Ph.D. Candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over the years I've developed a variety of lab skills on molecular biology. I can make bacteria express specific genes for my experiments, measure binding affinities between two molecules and quantify gene expression in human cells! My academic passion is understanding how protein folding events can add variety to its molecular function in the cell. Beyond the research bench, I like to take care of my plants and celebrate each of their new leaves. I also like to bake and make everything in a meal from scratch. I live with three adorable kitties Regina, George and Sergio and they'll likely say hi on the screen!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

I was part of a Research Experiences for Teachers program at the university of Puerto Rico at Cayey. I mentored high-school teachers and students through laboratory experiments that could be completed in the classroom. As part of my Ph.D. program I was a teaching assistant for two semesters of Introduction to Microbiology Laboratory.Credentials
