Bio
Hi! I am a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, earning a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Currently, I am a 5th year Ph.D. student, a RISE scholar, and a Ryan Fellow studying in the Department of Molecular and Systems Biology. My research employs auxin-inducible degron (AID) technology in conjunction with quantitative phosphoproteomics to identify potential substrates of kinases of interest to decipher their signaling in basic biology and disease. Outside the lab, I can be found following (and trying to understand!) the economy and playing board games. Through my career I have found the passions that drive my interest in science include the opportunity to try new things, the discovery of the unknown, and the chance to teach people new topics, which is also why I really enjoy board games!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Mass Spectrometry and You
Come learn about the different uses and applications of one of the most fascinating instruments that any scientist could have in their tool belt! Fundamental and translational research topics include, but are not limited to: proteomics, metabolomics, drug discovery, environmental and forensic analyses, etc. This project consists of researching and understanding how a mass spectrometer works and how it can be used for almost any project you could imagine.
