- Research Program Mentor

PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins University

Expertise

general biology, molecular and cellular biology

Bio

I am a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where I study the way fat from the diet is processed. I think a lot about the structure and functions of cells, protein, and DNA. I have been a student-athlete my entire life. Now, I am a runner and cyclist. I have two rescue dogs who thankfully enjoy running with me and love to play!

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

What are model organisms?

In science, researchers use model organisms to study biological processes. You will research historically important organisms from cells, to mice, to organiods and beyond. Then, you will create a pitch (in the form of a slide deck presentation) to compare and contrast what you think the best research organisms are and why.

Teaching experience

I have been a Teaching Assistant at Johns Hopkins University Biochemistry Lab for 2+ semesters and in the Molecular Biology Masters' course. I have mentored multiple undergraduates in lab techniques in my thesis lab.
