Bio
My primary academic and professional expertise is around baseball analytics. My goal is to be a data analyst for an MLB team. This led me to study Sport Management for my Bachelor's and Economics for my Master's. While baseball is my passion, I am confident I can assist with a variety of quantitative projects. Another interest of mine is business and I have been selling shoes and clothing online since I was in middle school. I opened a physical storefront during graduate school, but now sell online only. I am a big sneakerhead and love vintage clothing!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Finding Value in MLB Free Agency
Every offseason there are hundreds of professional baseball players who become free agents and can be signed by any team. This project involves determining which players might be a good "value" by deciding which statistics are most important to helping a team win relative to how players are generally paid. After deciding which stats are the most important, a ranked list of "value" can be produced based on expected salaries.
Coding skills
Python, SQL, RTeaching experience
I have coached and officiated youth & high school sports. In my time working with the WSU baseball team, a big part of my job was teaching our players and coaches about statistics and finding ways to use them for a competitive advantage. I also tutored our players academically in a variety of subjects. I have managed many college student employees and interns for my small business.Credentials
