Bio
I started my education in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and while I was there I did undergraduate research in Computational Fluid Dynamics while also pursuing a minor in Scientific and Engineering Computing. While I was at Georgia Tech I focused on satellite design and operation, but I became more interested in computer science and data science as I went through the program. I transitioned to Data Science after graduating by pursuing a Masters degree from Brown University. Now I work in machine learning and my interests are in areas like Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning. I'm a huge science fiction reader, and I love talking about anything simulated. I've always liked helping others learn, especially if its learning something that I've struggled with in the past. I hope that by mentoring I can help the next generation by sharing my experiences, both good and bad, so that others can benefit.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Simulating the trajectory and ground track of a spy satellite
Molniya satellites were placed in orbits that allowed for long periods of uninterrupted coverage of Russia and the United States. This project would involve simulating these orbits using a program like MATLAB or Python using classic orbital mechanics, in order to visualize the ground track of the satellite and compute coverage times.
Use machine learning to design the "perfect" win
The chemical properties of a bottle of wine can be used to predict the quality of the wine, and therefore its value. This project would involve training various different machine learning models to perform this task, and would also involve using the resulting model to design the "perfect" wine.
