Preventing Hospital Lab Errors

Preventing Hospital Lab Errors: A Study on Healthcare Operations and Quality Management Proposal: In this project, we'll specifically investigate how healthcare operations and quality management can reduce errors in a hospital pathology lab, a common and often preventable patient safety issue. We'll analyze existing workflows in healthcare settings, pinpointing areas where laboratory errors are most likely to occur and exploring possible operational and quality management enhancements to prevent them. By reviewing successful case studies, we'll gain real-world insights into effective strategies. We'll also explore the potential role of technological interventions, like automated specimen handling/processing and electronic health records, in preventing these errors. Our ultimate goal is to understand how we can contribute to making healthcare environments safer by reducing the risk of errors in the lab. Project Management In a Healthcare Setting

Project Management Execution- Would you like to discover how to design an awesome strategy for improving how things work in healthcare? In this project you will learn about quality management and the operational/business side of healthcare. Together we can work on conceptualizing and implementing a set of tools to manage and operate a healthcare project from start to finish. A few examples of project topics in this space include reducing medication errors and programs to combat physician burnout. This includes determining areas for improvement, formulating a hypothesis, collecting data and analyzing systems to see where improvements can be made, drafting an initial proposal to present to management with effective communication methods, and defining metrics that could be used to evaluate the success of your proposal. You will eventually write a final paper detailing the problem you’re trying to solve, potential methods for solving it, and reviewing case studies from existing literature. Teaching experience

I have tutored and mentored students through City Year, which is a non-profit program through Americorps. I served as a mentor in an underserved community in Los Angeles. I had a group of six kids, who were freshman in High School and were responsible to track their progress throughout their first year of high school. Most of these kids tested below proficient when they were tested initially, and by the end of the year all of them tested advanced/proficient with my help. It was a unique experience and I hope to utilize my mentoring skills with you.
