Bio
Hi, I'm Mohamed! I currently work as a scientist at a biotech startup focused on building BCIs. Before this, I worked as a research associate at the Neuroscience Institute of NYU Langone Health. During my undergrad, I conducted research in the graduate tissue engineering lab and was involved in student council, greek life, and mentorship programs. Outside of research and coursework, I spend a lot of my time cooking, biking, and reading (currently on Hyperion, highly recommend it).Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
What really is a brain computer Interface?
In recent news, companies like Neuralink, Neurable, and Kernel have received a lot of attention for their state-of-the-art brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and their potential impact on the human condition. Despite all of this, the subject is still quite esoteric. In this project, we'll aim to understand the fundamentals behind brain-computer interfaces, the progress they have made over the decades, and how these companies compete against one another.
Coding skills
Python, MATLAB, C, ReactTeaching experience
In undergrad, I conducted research in a graduate student tissue engineering lab from the Summer following freshman year to my senior year. During this time, numerous new students were incorporated into the lab and needed help in learning about how the lab functions and certain tasks like cell culture and microscopy. I provided that support for a number of incoming lab members.Credentials
