Hi! My name is Logan, and I graduated from Stanford in 2020 with a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and a minor in Spanish. My concentration was in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), which allowed me to combine psychology and computer science. Next, I attended Princeton and studied social psychology, receiving my M.A. in 2022. I've been a mentor at Polygence since 2021. I would like to mentor students with interests in psychology, HCI, sociology, or any combination of the three! In my free time, I am an avid juggler, and I have a YouTube channel where I make tutorials about how to juggle. I also love staying active by doing martial arts and lifting weights. Online Psychology Studies
I have lots of experience setting up psychology experiments on Qualtrics, an online study platform, so I feel very comfortable helping students with this type of project. Studies on Qualtrics can take many different forms. For example, an experiment could explore how changing the way something is worded impacts participants' perception of it. Another experiment could try to motivate behavior change by exposing participants to an encouraging vs. control video. I also have experience using more complicated designs (specifically, 2x2 and 2x2 + 1) and incorporating Javascript with Qualtrics. Qualtrics is an extremely flexible tool, so students can use it creatively to tackle interesting questions.
User Interface (UI) Design Projects
During my undergraduate education, I took several courses in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The goal of HCI is to develop a User Interface (UI) that is intuitive and easy to use. To achieve this goal, developers must interview and get feedback from users of their technology. This is a collaborative and iterative process. An example of this type of project is designing a website. In HCI development, you listen to people actually using the website you designed and identify where they have issues. Next, you re-design the website and repeat the process again. This is only one type of HCI project -- there are many routes to explore!
