Bio
Hello! My name is Ochuwa Tisor, and I am honored to introduce myself as a new mentor at Polygence. I have an academic background in biomedical sciences, biology, public health, environmental sciences, research, and mentorship. Mentorship holds an exceptionally significant place in my heart, as it has played a pivotal role in shaping my own success and development as a student. Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of working in several research laboratories where I’ve gained valuable insights in both basic science and clinical research. Throughout my endeavors, I have been fortunate to engage in a myriad of projects, spanning topics within biomedical sciences, artificial intelligence, public health, and environmental science. Additionally, I possess over five years of tutoring experience, working closely with students ranging from high school to college level. Through these interactions, I have successfully tutored subjects ranging from creative writing to the MCAT, providing personalized guidance and support to help students achieve their academic goals. In my downtime, I enjoy hiking, watching movies, and exploring new places and food. Joining the Polygence team is a venture that fills me with excitement and gratitude. Contributing to the mission of making research more accessible to high school students aligns perfectly with my passion and aspirations. I am wholeheartedly committed to providing personalized support and guidance to my students and am excited to embark on this journey. Together, we can navigate the realm of research and unlock your full potential!Project ideas
Analyzing the Impact Physical Activity on Youth Obesity Rates in an Urban Community
The project involves analyzing public health data to investigate the relationship between physical activity levels and youth obesity rates in an urban community. As a mentor, I will guide the student in gathering publicly available data on youth obesity rates and physical activity levels, helping them with data cleaning and organization. The student will interpret the results, considering other factors that may influence the relationship, and develop evidence-based recommendations to promote physical activity and reduce youth obesity. Additionally, they can consider publishing their findings in a peer-reviewed journal, creating an abstract, and/or presenting at a conference to share their insights on their research.
