Bio

My name is Paul Gehret and I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia! My academic passion is engineering tissues and biomaterials to heal the human body. In my research at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, I use cells and scaffolds to tissue engineer cartilage to heal the pediatric airway and allow babies to breath easier! I currently live in Philadelphia with my two dogs. We love to hike, cook and explore the city in our free time!

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Write a Review Paper on Exciting New Tissue Engineering Topics

Students would learn about the state of the art cell types and scaffolds that researchers use to create organs for the human body. This project would help students find, understand, and comprehend tissue engineering academic papers. This newfound knowledge could be written into a short review paper.

Create a New Biomaterial

Students would learn to find, read, and synthesize new academic research in the biomaterials field. This project would allow students to brainstorm their own cool biomaterial that could be used to heal the human body based on the gaps in current literature. We could then would write a proposal based on this new idea.
