Bio
I've been in school a long time! I had a bunch of language and literature majors as an undergrad at UT Austin (and a neuroscience minor!) and stayed an extra year so I could write theses for three of them because I was having such a good time. Then I went to Yale Law School and the University of London, and I'm now doing a PhD in Chinese history at UC Berkeley. I'd be happy to work with you on most humanities-related projects! I've been teaching for a while, too, beginning with martial arts, which I started studying when I was 9. Even when everything's on Zoom, teaching is pretty much my favorite thing to do. The most exciting thing in the world to me is helping someone better understand something that matters to them, whether it's throwing a punch, reading Milton, or making an argument.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Change the Law!
Is there a new law that's about to be passed in your county or city that you support or oppose? Learn everything you can about it, then figure out how your research can help get the law passed or stopped.
Tell People They're Wrong!
What issues do you care about that you think most people don't completely get? Prepare an op-ed and submit it to the publications where you think it'll make a difference.
Old Stuff Still Matters!
Show in essay, audio, or visual form how the world we live in is shaped by the poetry you find the most beautiful or the past events you think are the most fascinating.

I've taught martial arts to students of all ages for 15 years, including founding and running a school, as well as teaching online for the past year. I've privately tutored test prep and academic subjects (in person and online) since 2015, and I have taught multiple college discussion sections. Finally, I designed and taught a writing-intensive Berkeley seminar in the fall semester of 2020.Credentials
