Bio

My primary clinical and research interest is health psychology, predominantly focusing on health behavior change interventions. In my graduate career thus far, my specialized focus has been on weight-related health behaviors, such as eating and physical activity, as well as eating disorder risk factors. Currently, I am interested in the effectiveness of self-compassion interventions for a broader scope of health behaviors. I have a wide range of personal interests. For example, I love cooking/baking, drawing/painting, and being outdoors in any capacity (though long walks are my favorite)! I also have a spooky side; Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love a good ghost story. Lastly, I am both a cat person and a dog person and would love to hear stories about and see pictures of pets.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Design a Treatment Intervention

Given my background in delivering and designing interventions for clinical research projects, I could help students to develop psychoeducational materials, a workshop, a brochure, or a program of some sort that would hypothetically be given to a sample of participants as a treatment for a psychological and/or behavioral problem.

Self-Compassion Intervention Literature Review

My most recent area of focus pertains to evaluating the effectiveness of self-compassion interventions for health behavior change. I would love to help students conduct a literature review project on the topic of self-compassion interventions by assisting them with literature searching, critically consuming literature on the topic, and writing a literature review paper.

Teaching experience

I have served as a research mentor for teams of up to seven research assistants throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers. My duties involved orienting research assistants to relevant literature, discussing and teaching relevant concepts, training research assistants to collect, organize, and analyze data, and delegating tasks during manuscript preparation. I have also worked as a private tutor since I was in high school, and provided a guest lecture for a psychology course at my undergraduate alma mater.
