Meha P

- Research Program Mentor

MPH candidate at George Washington University

Expertise

Immunology or Public Health

Bio

I am passionate about the biological sciences, especially cancer and immunology research. I have had the privilege to work in both fields at amazing institutes and publish my work at both sites. I aim to enter the field of cancer immunotherapy research soon. Additionally, I am a studying public health professional with a concentration in communication studies. After my time at NIAID, I wanted to assist the larger population with institutional changes and grow health as a human right. I like the intersectionality of communications and research and believe that it is a necessary skill. Hobbies-wise I enjoy archery, dancing, and reading, among other things.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Infotaining Podcast

The world needs more scientists who can speak to the general public about their science. Pandemic science really showed a disconnect. Podcasts offer a unique area to showcase technical information in a public setting. You will gain research skills as well as production skills from editing up to production/distribution.

Mini Scientific Review

Many publishers want holistic reviews which start as mini-reviews that garner interest and spur the scientific world to investigate. In this project, you will review a biological topic such as "how vaccines work" or "COVAX program evaluation." This process will introduce you to the scientific world, review process, and publication process. You will gain writing skills, in-depth analysis skills, and editing skills.
