Bio

Hi all, my name is Arpit! I'm a software engineer with a passion for building cool things and all things AI/ML. I currently work at an AI/ML startup called Databricks, after graduating with my master's in computer science from UCLA, specializing in (you guessed it) AI/ML. That being said, all aspects of computer science are very interesting to me, even down to low-level assembly and something as tangential as building computers. I have a lot of personal interests and hobbies from traveling to board sports to swimming to reading to music. I especially enjoy watching all kinds of movies and shows from anime to Stranger Things to stuff in languages I've never even heard of. For some cool facts, I've hung out with 2Chainz and swam with a shark (not at the same time dw).

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Create an ML Model to classify images

We work together to learn Python (or skip this if you already know it), learn what a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is, build this model on a Kaggle dataset, and try to improve it through various techniques and layers to maximize our accuracy.

Coding skills

Python, Java, C/C++, Scala, Go, HTML/CSS/JS, Swift/Objective-C, Database Languages (SQL, etc.), Functional Programming Languages (Lisp, Scheme, etc.)

Teaching experience

In high school, I taught CS to kids at theCoderSchool. In my undergraduate program, I was a CS tutor and mentor through my honor society. In my graduate program, I was a TA for multiple CS courses.
