Bio
Hello! I'm Jacob Grant, currently earning my MS in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. As part of the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory (ASDL), I have experience in a variety of fields including model-based systems engineering, multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization, systems of systems integration, and computer-assisted advanced design methods... all of which is to say that I've had experience with many industry-leading techniques in engineering and design. My specific projects have included designing novel control systems, unmanned underwater vehicles, satellite constellations, and hypersonic vehicles. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and spent a lot of time on Lake Erie before attending Kent State University for undergrad. I love the water and spent many summers working as a jet ski instructor at Cedar Point Beach. In my free time, I also enjoy drawing, writing, weight lifting, and playing video games.Project ideas
Analysis of Celestial Bodies for Colonization
This project would seek to compile data on the environmental benefits and challenges of different moons and planets in our solar system, compare the data by developing a database and using weighted analytics, and finally conclude which celestial bodies might be our best bets for off-Earth colonies - especially since Mars probably isn't our best bet!
Developing a Mission Plan for Mining an Asteroid
This project would seek to identify a reasonable interstellar object (likely an asteroid) for resource extraction, develop a mission plan including dates, launches, orbits, and reentry, and present a cost analysis on economic viability if the mission were successfully completed.
