Bio

Hi! I'm Shreeya, a software engineer who just graduated from Cornell with a B.A. and M.Eng. in Computer Science. At Cornell, I took a variety of classes including Machine Learning, Machine Learning for Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Data Visualization. I started off learning about full-stack web development and was on a project team that builds web applications to solve social issues. I proceeded to build web-based products that incorporate information retrieval, natural language processing, and data analyses, such as a website that classifies, tracks, and analyzes a user's mood by processing user-inputted statuses. As for my personal interests, I love trying out new coffee shops, visiting museums, and reading. I also used to play badminton and tennis in high school, as well as violin in my school orchestra. Fun fact: I was on a Bollywood fusion dance team (and was the captain for a year!) at Cornell.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Homework Tracker

When school gets busy, homework assignments tend to get difficult to keep track of. Lists aren't always the best way to visualize what needs to get done when. In this project, we will build a simple Python / Flask web application that serves as a dashboard to organize their homework assignments. Students can create "homework assignments" and add them to a visual stack. They can click "start" for a particular homework assignment and keep track of how long it takes them to complete that assignment. This data can be stored and organized so the student can see how much time they spend on each subject.

Teaching experience

I was a TA for an upper division CS class -- Introduction to Computer Vision. I held weekly office hours to answer questions regarding the material and help students with the regularly assigned projects / homeworks. I also graded these assignments and exams with the other TAs.
