Bio

I am currently a PhD student in Psychology at UCLA. My research focuses on adolescent mental health and media, and stigma and health with a focus on weight stigma and disordered eating & body dissatisfaction. Outside of research, I love to read, watch reality TV, hang with my cat Millie, and spend time at the beach.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Stigma and Stereotypes in Media

Television shows and movies often depict people with certain identities in stigmatizing or stereotypical ways. In order to find out more about how this looks and how common it is, you could conduct a content analysis, documenting and describing these depictions in a TV show or a movie.

Literature Review on Body Dissatisfaction in Boys

A lot of research on body dissatisfaction is conducted with girls, but boys are often left out of the conversation. You could conduct a literature review to find out more about how we think about body image and dissatisfaction in boys and how that may be different than how we think about it in girls.
