Bio

Hi! I'm a professional musician and film composer. I have scored a number of short and feature films (most recently the Disney movie Noelle) and my band Stolen Jars has been featured in the New York Times, NPR and many other publications.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Writing and Recording a Song

I will work with the student to build out a song from the initial concept/harmony ideas to a fully recorded final project. In the process I will teach the student the basics of recording and mixing, along with how to structure a song and how to find the right chords and arrangement to express their vision.

Scoring a Scene

I will guide the student through the process of scoring a sample scene from a film. I will help to come up with the initial idea for the scene and then guide the student through the process of arranging their piece of music, making sure to hit each moment of the scene.
