Bio

I was born in Switzerland and grew up in Boston. After graduating from Duke University, I spent almost 5 years living in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen). Most recently, I co-founded a company in the renewable energy space (www.ecoflow.com), prior to that I worked in management consulting. My interests range from entrepreneurship (how to bootstrap and scale a venture), to design thinking (how to innovatively solve problems using design thinking methodology), to energy and the environment (the future of solar and lithium ion storage technology), to the intersection of hardware and software (development of autonomous vehicles).

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

You will learn how to tell your story, monetize your idea, and raise money from friends, family and beyond to support your idea.

Data Collection & Analysis through Consumer Surveys and Focus Groups

If you are interested in doing market research, this is a great way to learn the basics. Learn how to write a survey and focus group questions to gather statistically significant results. You will learn how to design and build a survey using tools such as Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, and Mechanical Turk, as well as how to analyze the data using the tool of your choice (Excel, SQL, Python). Advanced applications can include applying conjoint and clustering analysis to your data!

ABCs of Launching a Venture: Building a Business Plan

Have some ideas and not sure where to go? This will help you think through the ABCs of launching your venture, using the lean / bootstrapping model as your guide. Learn how to develop an early prototype and get beta testers!

Design Thinking Research

Interested in solving some of the world's biggest problems but don't know where to begin? Using design thinking technique we begin with a problem-first approach (not solution first!) to build user empathy and understand the best techniques to solve user's problems. This is great for anyone look to come up with business solutions to pressing problems.
